OUR HARP TEACHER NIKKI CHRISTOPHER holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in Harp Performance. She is currently Principal Harpist for The Saint Cloud Symphony Orchestra and The Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra. She has also recently performed with great groups such as: The Dale Warland Singers, The Northern Symphony, The Metropolitan Symphony, The Fargo-Moorhead Opera, and The Minnesota Opera. She also has recently recorded a Christmas CD with flutist Linda Chatterton titled “Gabriel’s Message”. During her college years, she studied under renowned conductors including Gerhard Samuel and Earl Rivers. Her primary harp instructors have been Diane Evans and Dr. Jessica Suchy-Pilalis. CHACHOLIADES
studied at
the University of Georgia, Mozarteum Conservatory, Salzburg, Austria,
and holds a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance from Cleveland
Institute of Music. Linda has been actively teaching piano lessons to
students of all ages since 1995. She formerly served on the faculty of
Berkshire Community College, Berkshire Music School, Georgia Perimeter
College and Gainesville State college, where she was in demand as an
accompanist and chamber musician as well as a solo pianist. She
currently teaches Music Theory and Keyboard classes at McNally Smith
College of Music. Linda is available for lessons on Tuesdays and

Tuition per Trimester (Eleven 30 Minute Lessons) $305.25 _____________________________________________________________________ DAN EDGREN has a B.S. degree in Music Education specializing in piano studies from Bemidji State University. He continued his piano studies at MacPhail Center for the Arts and has been teaching piano to students of all levels for 20 plus years. Dan currently performs regularly as an accompanist for the Metropolitan Boy’s Choir and the Metropolitan Men’s Choir throughout the Twin Cities. He has been a finalist in the Schubert Club Piano Competition and is an active member of MMTA. Dan teaches on Wednesday and Thursday. Tuition per Trimester (Eleven 30 minute lessons) $310.75 MARY GOETZ holds degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the New England Conservatory. She has been teaching piano to children and adults in the Twin Cities area since 1992 and emphasizes physical comfort and control to enhance the enjoyment of music and the piano. Mary also enjoys performing frequently as a collaborative artist as well as a soloist. She is a performing member of Thursday Musical and an active member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and Minnesota Music Teachers Association. Mary teaches on Tuesday and Thursday. Tuition per Trimester (Eleven 30 minute lessons) $ 286.00 EMILY IRELAND offers students the opportunity to improve their skills in playing and practicing piano while fostering the enjoyment of music. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2002 with a double-major in Music and German. Emily taught piano during her college career and joined the MVSM staff in 2002. She is a member of the Minnesota Music Teacher’s Association and is a Kindermusik instructor. Emily also accompanies students for rehearsals, performances and competitions. Currently she is working toward a Master of Arts degree in Music Education with a Piano Pedagogy concentration at the University of St. Thomas. Emily teaches during the day until 3 :00 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays. Tuition per Trimester ( Eleven 30 minute lessons) $294.25 PHYLLIS MELGAARD has a B.S. degree in Music Education from Mankato State University, having studied piano as her major instrument. She has had additional training at Hamline and St. Thomas Universities and Pensacola Christian College. Phyllis has taught in public and private schools, and in her home studio since 1980. She is a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Phyllis teaches Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tuition per Trimester (Eleven 30 Minute Lessons) $305.25 DEBORAH PLATTES began her musical education at age eight with private piano lessons. As a student at St. Olaf College she continued private lessons with Theo Wee and completed coursework in theory and ear training. Deborah graduated with a B.A. degree in American Studies. She later completed graduate work in education at the University of Minnesota, receiving her elementary education teaching license in March of 2000. She has taught 5th and 3rd grade in the Minneapolis Public Schools. Deborah is an active member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers and is a licensed Kindermusik instructor. Deborah teaches at MVSM on Monday, Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday Tuition per Trimester (Eleven 30 minute lessons) $277.75 JIM SHANNON is our jazz, improvisation and keyboard specialist. He teaches many of our adult and high school students, especially those who want to learn to improvise. Jim is a graduate of Macalester College and one of his two Master’s degrees reflects his interest in church music and liturgy. He plays professionally as a soloist and in ensembles and since 1991 has been the “strolling pianist” at Centennial Lakes Park in Edina. Jim also appears as the musical clown “Professor Piano” for young children at schools and churches. Currently He serves as organist/pianist at a church in Plymouth. Jim is a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the Hymn Society of the U.S. , and the American Federation of Musicians. He has performed in 16 countries and in 21 U.S. states.
