TURN AN ORDINARY SUMMER INTO AN EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEY WITH THEME-BASED CAMPS
PEEK-A-BOO, I LOVE YOU! Parents and babies up to 18 months of age A special five session Kindermusik camp for the very youngest children. You will hear both familiar tunes and lullabies and new ones including Caribbean, Korean, Maori and Welsh songs. Learn ways to say “I love you” using touch, Mother Goose rhymes, literature books and chants. Activities include instrument play, American Sign Language, and special parent-baby dances that stimulate baby’s eyes, body and mind. Parents connect with other newborns and families in the community as well as learn how music improves the child development process. Materials include a poster, “Peek-a-Boo, I Love You” baby book, CD, and other special activity materials, such as a duck-shaped mirror and star-shaped sponge. Through music, movement, dance, storytelling and instrument exploration, backyard creatures –from bird , turtles, squirrels, and rabbits to flowers, caterpillars and bumblebees—will be uncovered and celebrated! Be the flower from the “seed’s perspective.” Run and jump in puddles made from hula hoops. Materials include 5 picture folders, a home C/D and a plush bunny puppet. Your child is introduced to a number of whimsical waterfront friends, including the seagull, crab, dolphin, octopus, and whale. Beach fun is the focus with beach ball play, pretend-kite play, and sheet-simulated waves! Throughout each lesson, your child explores ocean movements such as a whale spouting, sings to delightful music including a lively Calypso tune, hears an original ocean creature story, and makes music with delightfully unique instruments such as shakers, castanets and more. Your child will take home a pair of specially designed seashell handle castanets for family music-making picture folders, story cards and a CD of the entertaining songs. This camp makes the most of a pre-schooler’s burgeoning imagination and ability to learn more words and solve problems. Each day this class will ride a pretend van to summer vacation locations such as the carnival, a summer cottage, and the beach. Crafts use simple materials-- most can be found around the house. Parents will love remembering and singing favorite camp songs with their child. Create camp memories around a campsite made of rhythm sticks, flashlights and wispy red scarves. Materials include a literature book “Van Go”, the road tripping van, a CD and an instrument. Parents join the last 15 minutes to share in the fun. Activities incorporate music, movement, dance, drama and instruments native to each country such as the German polka dance and a Japanese den den drum. Your child will also experiment with arts and crafts activities such as making an African decorative mask and Mexican piñatas. There is plenty of room for creativity as your child learns about each rich culture. Each day your child can mark the journeys with stickers to post on his very own “travel bag”. Materials include C/D, picture pages, parent activity book and craft supplies.
