Kindermusik is the premier music readiness program for your child. It makes music a joyful and natural part of your child’s life with the emphasis on singing, rhythm activities and movement. Music encourages early learning and creativity in children. Because so much of your child’s cognitive, sensory and physical development occurs by age seven, Kindermusik includes a four-stage curriculum that complements your own child’s timetable for learning.

The Kindermusik school year is divided into two 15-week semesters. We are pleased to offer small class sizes with a minimum of four students and a maximum of 9 students. Families with multiple children in Kindermusik during the same full semester (except in Family Time Class) are given a Tuition Discount(1st child Regular Price, 2nd child $25 off, 3rd and more $50 off.

The musical journey continues in a 2 year (4 semester) program exploring vocal development, rhythm, notation, and musical symbols through pre-keyboard, stringed and wind instruments. One hour weekly classes with parent participation during the last 15 minutes of class.

Tuition and Materials per 15 Week Semester $320.00

THIS IS A SEQUENTIAL PROGRAM. STUDENTS START WITH SEMESTER 1 AND COMPLETE THE FOUR SEMESTERS OVER A TWO YEAR PERIOD.

**Semester 1 is offered only in the Fall (ages 4 1/2 - 5 1/2  in Fall 2007)

SEMESTER 1 (15 classes beginning September 17, 2007)
This musical journey begins by experiencing beat,/no beat, rhythm and expression. Our take home instrument this semester is the hand drum. We read rhythmic notation, playing sticks and drums in unison and in ensemble. Students sing songs (with words and note names c and a) and play some musical games. Cards are used as a fun way to learn notes and rhythms.

SEMESTER 2 ( 15 classes beginning the week of January 28, 2008)
This class is a continuation of semester one. Students eagerly anticipate the arrival of the glockenspiel which will be a learning instrument for semesters 2, 3 and 4. Songs they have been singing and notation/rhythm they have been practicing will now transfer to the glockenspiel.

SEMESTER 3 (15 classes beginning the week of September 17, 2007)
Year Two continues the journey  by exploring our dulcimer, a simple stringed instrument and with it, Appalachian music. We even learn to square dance! We sing Native American music and play it on the glockenspiel. We learn an African drumming chant and listen to Jazz and the Nutcracker Suite.

SEMESTER 4 (15 classes beginning the week of January 28, 2008)
Wind instrument technique is explored by using a recorder, our new instrument this semester. We enjoy music of Japan, Germany and Mexico!! We learn Rondo form, creating our own glockenspiel solos. Young Child Graduation often includes piano, string guitar, flute and harp performances by young MVSM students to help us decide what instrument we would like to study.
