OUR GUITAR TEACHERS PAUL BERGET received a B.F.A. degree in classical guitar and lute from the University of Minnesota in 1972. He continued graduate studies at Royal College of Music in London with Diana Poulton and Nigel North. Paul also founded the guitar program at Hamline University in 1972. In 1973 he appeared on Broadway in a musical adaptation of “Cyrano de Bergerac” starring Christopher Plummer. His music has been heard at various Twin Cities Theaters including the Guthrie, Chanhassen. and Children’s Theater. Likewise, Paul has performed with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Rose Ensemble, Concentus Musicus, and Minstrelsy. Paul teaches Classical and Popular Guitar, Renaissance and Baroque Lute and Viola da Gamba at MVSM on Mondays. Tuition per Trimester (Eleven 30 minute lessons) $277.75 GENE SWANSON holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Guitar Performance from the University of Minnesota and is the 1989 first place winner of the Schubert Club Competition. Gene started teaching at MVSM in1984 and offers instruction in Suzuki, classical and popular styles of guitar. In addition to many freelance gigs around the Metro area, Gene performs with Finnish folk singer Petra Zilliacus, jazz guitarist Scott Fraser,The "Jazz Etc." Group and is co-founder/guitarist/composer for the all originals sextet J.P. and the Lava Lizards. Past appearances include the American Swedish Institute, Midwest Country Music Theater, the Governor’s mansion and Minnesota Public Radio. Gene teaches on Tuesday and Thursday.
